Pastor Billy Myron reviews the Christian life series from Galatians 5, focusing on the works of the flesh versus walking by the Spirit. He explains human composition as body, soul, and spirit, with the spirit saved at conversion while the soul remains unsaved and under attack from the flesh (sin nature). Soulish (carnal) living produces fleshly behavior like envy, strife, and divisions, as seen in the Corinthians, while spiritual living manifests the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control. Key distinctions come from Scripture, including Hebrews 4:12 on dividing soul and spirit, 1 Corinthians 2 on spiritual discernment through the Holy Spirit, and 1 Peter 2:11 on fleshly lusts warring against the soul. The solution draws from Romans 6: know your position (co-crucified, co-buried, co-raised with Christ, dead to sin), reckon yourself dead to the sin nature and alive to God, and yield your members as instruments of righteousness rather than unrighteousness. This enables walking in newness of life by faith, not law or fleshly desires. The soul can be purified through obeying truth, and victory comes by not fulfilling fleshly desires through the Spirit. The series resumes in September on dealing with Satan.
